Two sisters in regency England are transported to a world filled with tiny mischievous creatures, tyrannical toads, and an inky serpent that turns insides to mush. To find their way home before the serpent consumes them whole, the sisters make a hasty deal with a morally questionable fairy creature to free him from whatever binds him.

Her mother’s dying wish brings the bereaved Dawn to a tiny fishing island where she unravels her mother’s past, encounters eclectic islanders, and finds beauty in unexpected places. Beckoned by the memories and determined to regain her abilities, Katya travels to Nepal where her life becomes entangled with a young Nepali man and a street dog who knows more than he lets on. Unbeknownst to her, this is not the first time she has been to Kathmandu.
